Thermostat
Changing your existing thermostat to a new digital model not only provides your home with a more updated look, but provides for better operating efficiency of your system. The older type mercury bulb thermostats will not display an accurate temperature setting. A digital thermostat, however, will maintain the temperature as set, allowing for better control of total operating time, and therefore, energy cost.
If you are away from the air conditioned space for many hours on a regular basis, a programmable thermostat can significantly reduce energy costs by automatically adjusting the target temperature setting while people are not occupying the space.
Always leave your thermostat set for the temperature you wish to maintain. Setting the thermostat at a cooler temperature will not make your system cool any faster. In fact, leaving the thermostat at a setting too low can cause the system to freeze up, leading to possible damage.
