AIR FILTER
Properly filtered air is better for your health and the health of your A/C
unit. If you are having difficulty finding the right size filter for your
air conditioning system, you may want to consider the one time purchase of
a filter holding frame, along with polyester filter media that can be cut
to size. The polyester media makes an excellent filter choice and provides
superior air quality to the fiberglass/cardboard type filter commonly sold
in most retail stores. This inexpensive filtering method (average frame cost
approximately $35.00) is recommended, not only for hard to find filters but
standard filters as well.
Another excellent option for improving indoor air quality would be the use
of a pleated filter (1" to 5" thick). The one inch (1") filter can easily
be used in an existing return air grille. Upgrading to an even thicker pleated
filter has its advantages but will require the installation of a special frame
to accommodate the larger sized filter.
VENTILATION
Air quality can suffer if an interior space does not receive enough outside
air, especially if cooking or other processes that produce fumes, particles,
moisture, or steam occur in the space. If this situation exists in your home
or workplace, or if you have a kitchen or bathroom that does NOT have a ventilation
fan that vents to the outdoors, we can help by installing a ventilation fan
and the necessary duct work.
UV UNIT
A product now available in residential applications is the Ultraviolet (UV)
Air Purifier, mounted directly in the existing system. The UV unit then controls
the growth of mold and mildew at the source, primarily the interior components
of the air handling unit. Since no chemicals are used in the process, the
UV Air Purifying system offers an environmentally safe way to improve indoor
air quality.
After the unit is mounted in the existing air conditioning system and powered
by 110V household electrical current, air passes by the purifying unit. The
UV light emitted destroys living contaminants. The UV Air Purifier requires
very little maintenance and is inexpensive to operate.
CAUTION: If you have an existing UV unit, do not attempt
to service it or replace burned out UV light bulbs yourself! Professional
A/C technicians are trained in servicing these units while avoiding the potential
eye damage from UV rays.
