The MacArthur Beach State Park
The MacArthur Beach State Park is a beautiful park on the Beach lending itself to many wonderful activities for your family or group. The park offers multiple water activities for example scuba diving, snorkeling to explore the local coral reefs, swimming, fishing even Kayaking and surfing. In addition, please note there are no Lifeguards on the Beach as a result, please be aware of the ocean conditions, for example rip tide dangers, weather conditions, including but not limited to the threat of lightning
The walk to the beach is quite beautiful, but if you have kids and beach gear you may want to use the free tram to make the trip. The tram runs from 10 am to 4 pm every day. The gift shop is well stocked with everything from water to sunscreen and is definitely the place to rent equipment from dive flags, kayaks, binoculars plus lockers for your personal property. It should be noted that dogs are not allowed on the beach or on the boardwalk.
The Covered Picnic Pavilion
The Covered Picnic Pavilion among its amenities offers electrical outlets, charcoal grills, wooden picnic tables, access to the restrooms, nature trails in addition a great playground for the kids and last but not least the Pavilion will seat up to 60 guests comfortably. When planning an event at the park, please be aware that these items are not allowed balloons, confetti, pinatas as well as glitter. Equally important for the protection of the sea life, please do not bring either plastic disposable straws or the plastic rings from multi packs of soft drinks to this ocean side park, as they are known to cause harm to the sea life. In fact environmentalist groups are campaigning to have plastic straws banned. The Pavilions offers electrical outlets, charcoal grills, wooden picnic tables, access to the restrooms, nature trails in addition a great playground for the kids.
MacArthur Beach State Park has won many awards and has been named Best Outdoor Park, as well as “One of the Best State Parks in the Nation” by Outside Magazine, along with awards for Excellence in Education. Everyone should absolutely take the time to visit the Pew Family Natural Science Education Center, including but not limited to the Discovery Lab and the Education Gallery including the From Trees to Seas Exhibit during their visit to the park.
